By Design Lyrics Written and Sung By Singer Songwriter Debra Fine
I wrote this song for my teenage son, what a beautiful young man he is and he has yet to see it. I think every teen and parent have struggled through some dark times and I hope that these words can shine some light for all.
This song comes from my heart, with love and encouragement for anyone who is struggling with who they are and are reliving the past instead of stepping into the present.
This song is part of my EP music launch this month. If you are in Los Angeles May 24th, please come hear me sing this song live at The MINT in Los Angeles. All proceeds from the $15 ticket sales go to the victims of the Santa Monica mass shooting on June 7th of last year. This 9pm performance is the one year anniversary tribute. So attached to you, thought you needed me
Didn’t know if you saw the forest through the trees
Or had an identity
Now in the light, I see who you are
and who you can be
Didn’t tell you that different was good
Letting you know I understood
That I believed in you and you were fine
Even if you felt one step behind
Chorus
Just Close the Door, leave the skeletons inside
Because without fear, they won’t survive
Step in to who you are, try it on, let it shine
Beautiful Baby, you’re by design
No one can tell you where you belong,
Your own moral compass will lead you on
When you look at yourself, who do you see
The powerless little child you thought you used to be
Living it over and over to prove it’s true
No one could love someone like you
You can’t leave before the storm comes
Leaving people behind you cut and run
Just close the door, leave the skeleton’s inside, because without fear they won’t survive
Step into who you are, try it on, let it shine, beautiful baby, you’re by design
Instrumental solo’s….
So come on now, it’s your time to show
The one’s who don’t believe
You’re stronger than you know
It’s your time to lead
Chous
UMM UMMm
Beautiful Baby
oohhh oohh
You’re by design
